Street Art in Fort Kochin and a Hen Party

December 2024

Street art around  bastion street, Princess street, Napier Street, Peter Cell street, Burgher Street, Quieros Street,

Street art is a big thing in Cochin, I have recently discovered that many of the iconic works are by an anonymous artists called Guess Who, he incorporated provocative, socio political comments  and satirical themes into his work. Labeled the 'Banksy of Kerola' his work is all over the island of Fort Cochin and has inspired other artist to add more colourful street canvases.

Probably my favourite as it portrays the innate beauty of the people of this area...

 Just a cute street!!

a detail of this is at the top of the page.

And a hen party.
These lovely girls were practicing a dance in-between  the showers on the afternoon i was exploring Cochin street art. They had just come from a hen party meal to celebrate the brides' forthcoming wedding. They asked would I film them - it took a while  as they wanted to get it just right.

Frequently while I was in Kochin and in the mountains near Munar I came across groups of young people practicing and filming dances. On one occasion I was walking beside a dule carriage way - I'd been to see a waterfall, and a minibus pulled up to the side of the road. 6 lads got out, another stood in the middle of the road and filmed their routine against the backdrop of the tea plantation hills. The roads are pretty deserted  most of the time so they had a good 10 mins  perfecting and filming their routine.
