Tucholska 15
I’m living in an apartment block called Tucholska 15, it’s one of 15 or 20 in the area.
Someone at work yesterday said that behind every building in Bydgoszcz is a long history so I tried googling the history but have not found anything so far.
They are from the Cold War ears and it feels as if I’m living in a 1970’s spy film that has been transferred to Hallmark tv. The blocks have been painted lovely pastel colours, the car parks are full of mid-range to expensive cars and everyone seems to have a tiny dog on a lead to walk.
Inside I’m on the second floor, and I have a balcony where an enormous black plastic pigeon resides, his job is to scare away the other pigeons. The apartment is quaint and old fashioned; panels on the walls of the hall and a padded leather backing to the front door- I presume for sound proofing.
In the kitchen, there is a cupboard for the washing up to dry in, one of 26!!!! on one wall of the kitchen, some of them are only 8” wide!
In fact there are cupboards, another significant number are on one wall of the lounge where I’m sitting! Apparently this goes back to communist times when if you were lucky enough to get something, anything , you hung onto it so storage was key. This theme continues in the bedrooms where the brown furniture; cupboards, dressers, shelving bolted to the wall, even up and over the door.
So this is my home until next June it is very cosy and comfy with lovely views of a park and I feel very at home.
I have a spare room so please come and visit.

Such a brave move! I really admire your decision to go abroad to work for a while xxx
