' Begosh and begorrah' a Bobism

 Begosh and begorrah !!

I’m sure my dad used to say begosh and begorrah as an exclamation. He also used to say ‘hells teeth and buckets of blood’ (which I’m as yet unsuccessfully campaigning the family to have on his tomb stone). He was full of ‘bobisms’ in fact my mum frequently retorted ‘Bob will you stop speaking in hieroglyphics!

Since I’ve arrived in Bydgoszcz (which I know understand as Bead-a-gosht a bit like Ivor the engine’s  Pish-ta-coff) I’ve been remembering him saying begosh and begorrah!

Begorrah turns out to be an Irish colloquialism for ‘By God’.  I am sure I’m in Bydgoszcz by God’s design so Bydgoszcz begorrah it is!!
